Mandilas Tower
Complete HVAC accessories package for a landmark 34-floor commercial high-rise development in the heart of Lagos, Nigeria.
A landmark in West African commercial construction
Mandilas Tower represents one of Lagos’s most ambitious commercial developments — a 34-floor mixed-use high-rise combining office space, retail, and hospitality. Castle Engineering was selected to deliver the complete HVAC accessories package for the building’s central air-conditioning system, working alongside the main HVAC contractor and MEP consultant.
The project demanded not only technical excellence but also logistical precision — shipping fabricated ductwork, fire dampers, and air outlets from our Abu Rawash factory in Egypt to the Port of Lagos, coordinated with the site installation timeline over a 12-month period.
Complex system, tight timeline, cross-border delivery
High-Rise Air Distribution
A 34-floor building requires precisely engineered air pressure distribution across all levels — over-sized ducts on lower floors, high-velocity requirements on upper floors, and strict noise controls near meeting rooms.
Fire Safety Compliance
Nigerian building codes mandate certified fire and smoke dampers at every floor penetration. All units required UL/EN certification acceptable to Lagos State Fire Service authorities.
Gulf-of-Guinea Climate
High humidity, salt-laden coastal air, and year-round tropical temperatures demanded corrosion-resistant galvanized steel and sand-trap louvers optimized for equatorial conditions.
Cross-Border Logistics
Shipping 45,000 m² of ductwork from Alexandria to Lagos required staged delivery in 8 container shipments, precisely coordinated with the on-site installation schedule to avoid warehouse costs.
Engineered products, integrated delivery, standards-first fabrication
Castle’s engineering team worked with the project MEP consultant during the design phase to specify optimal products from our full HVAC accessories range. Every item was fabricated in-house at our SMACNA-audited Abu Rawash facility.
Standards-first, engineered to Gulf-of-Guinea conditions
- SMACNA-compliant fabrication — every duct section constructed per SMACNA HVAC Duct Construction Standards, 3rd Edition
- DW144 slip-and-drive joints — standardized connections ensuring air-tight assembly on site
- Galvanized coating G90 (275 g/m²) — heavier zinc coating specified for coastal-humid environment
- UL 555 fire dampers — 1.5-hour and 3-hour ratings certified by third-party testing lab
- Factory quality control — every batch inspected, coded, and photographed before container loading
- Digital documentation — full BOM, installation drawings, and certificates delivered with each shipment
All products carried certification acceptable to Lagos State Fire Service and Nigerian building authorities.
Castle’s delivery discipline is what set them apart. Eight container shipments landing exactly on schedule, complete documentation with every load, and technical support available whenever our site team called. For a project of Mandilas Tower’s complexity, that reliability is invaluable.
